of the names of the Junk masters to whom registers have been issued, together with the security bonds taken from them; which still show that the regulations referred to have already been put in practice. With respect

received from the hon ble Convent 362 transmitting the draft of station orders wh it was proposed to issue by Sir H. Keppel, & to which the Viceroy proposed certain Alterations, as Communicated in his reply, in wh he returned them to be issued for general guidance, it was his on intention to await the definitive reply of the British author before giving general orders on the subject to the officers in Command of the Chinese Steam Cruizers. As he now, the Consul's despatch that no objection, to [ the proposed system) are raised in the reply from the British Govt, it is in cumbent upon him to issue General instructions to the Comming Officers of the Gunboat Squadrons & to the Author= holding Jurisdiction along the Coast to take action & Accordingly, with the view of causing the system to be uniformly observed. In addition to issuing the necessary orders, he forwards this reply to the hon ble Consul, &avails & & &
